More Than One Right Option

This week in Chiang Mai reminded me that the trip is going to unfold how it wants to, not how I plan it.

I’ve had a few moments where my inner critic starts telling me that if I’m not out meeting new people every day, I’m not doing what I should be doing.

This past week, I haven’t made many new connections, but I have been deepening relationships that already exist, and I’m realizing how much that matters.

Deepening What’s Already Here

This trip keeps putting the right people in my path at the right time. My new friends happened to be in Chiang Mai when I was, and I was genuinely grateful to share the experience with them and not navigate everything alone.

Then I started thinking about my next stop and wanted somewhere with lots of indoor options and a direct flight while I’m moving a little more slowly than usual. I messaged a friend in Singapore to ask if Kuala Lumpur would be a good fit and found out he’s there at the same time. The wild coincidence, a few minutes later, another friend texted after seeing my post, and we discovered that she and her partner would be there too.

I don’t know what to call that, other than a reminder to stop planning and keep listening.

More Than One Right Option

My perfectionism loves turning decisions like flights and hotels into a full-time job, as if there’s one perfect choice and I’ll ruin everything if I don’t find it. But I’m learning, again, that self-trust looks like analyzing a little less and remembering there’s more than one right option.

Reflection Question: Where in your life are you putting pressure on yourself to do it the “right” way, when you might just need to take the next step and trust yourself from there?

✨ If this spoke to you, I’d love for you to subscribe to my blog or connect with me on LinkedIn. And if perfectionism or self-doubt is making decisions feel heavier than they need to be, coaching can help you quiet the inner critic and build trust in your own judgment.
